Michael O. Stephenson

Michael O. Stephenson is the owner of Bay Area Bicycle Law, P.C., in Oakland, California, and serves residents of the surrounding region and throughout Northern California in traumatic bicycle accidents, helping prove liability and damages when a cyclist has been injured due to no fault of their own.

Within a short period, Mr. Stephenson has become the premier attorney for victims of bicycle accidents and has been recognized by many prestigious legal organizations for his work, including the National Trial Lawyers Association (Top 40 Under 40), the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys (10 Best Client Satisfaction Award) and Avvo (rated “Excellent”). He has also been inducted into Lawyers of Distinction and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

From serving as a public defender within the Oregon judiciary to working for one of the top 100 law firms in the United States, Mr. Stephenson has always made his clients’ well-being his top priority, pursuing every available legal avenue to get them the relief they deserve. With a special focus on traumatic brain injuries and death due to bicycle-related accidents, he helps level the playing field against an opposition – with mammoth resources and manpower – through his practical knowledge and shrewd legal acumen, coupled with his desire to see his clients free of their legal woes.

Mr. Stephenson completed his undergraduate studies in 2001, graduating with his bachelor’s degree from Brown University. He then went on to enroll at the University of Oregon School of Law, where he took part in the Mock Trial Team and was the managing editor of the Oregon Law Review. Prior to receiving his Juris Doctor with honors in 2008, he was inducted into the Order of the Coif and was awarded the Most Outstanding Trial Advocate by the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (now the American Association for Justice) in their West Coast Regional Trial Championships.

Within his legal community, Mr. Stephenson is closely affiliated with many prominent legal organizations, including the Consumer Attorneys of California, the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice. He is also closely tied with the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, the California Bicycle Coalition, the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition and the Marin County Bicycle Coalition.
