Michael T. Christy

Michael T. Christy is a family law specialist certified by The State Bar of California, practicing at Christy, Keith & Donnell Family Law Group, P.C., in Oakland, California. He handles all aspects of family law across the Bay Area, including complex custody disputes, child and spousal support, property division, post-judgment modifications and domestic violence restraining orders. He frequently serves as a minor's counsel in high-conflict matters and offers collaborative law and mediation services to help clients resolve disputes outside of litigation.

Starting his legal career as an assistant staff judge advocate (JAG) in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Christy was named the Air Force Outstanding JAG of the Year in 2002. Following his release from the military, he practiced civil litigation and volunteered for San Francisco's Volunteer Legal Services Program, defending impoverished clients in family law cases. In addition to his litigation practice, he serves as a parenting coordinator, helping parents make binding decisions in parenting disputes.

Upon graduating from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a bachelor’s degree, Mr. Christy pursued legal studies at the University of San Diego School of Law. He received his Juris Doctor in 1997 and in the same year, was admitted to The State Bar of California. Additionally, he is licensed to practice in Colorado and Washington, D.C., and admitted to appear before the U.S. District Court for the District of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.

Mr. Christy is an active member of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists. He previously served as chair of the San Mateo County Bar Association Family Law Section and received the Outstanding Volunteer in Public Service Award. He maintains a “Superb” rating on Avvo for his continuous efforts to navigate litigation with ease.
