Joseph P. Costa

Attorney Joseph P. Costa is the founder of CostaLaw in Pacific Palisades, California. Mr. Costa practices business, entertainment and sports litigation and serves clients in California and nationwide.

Mr. Costa has 30 years of experience and represents high-profile clients, including the Agency for the Performing Arts, The Black Eyed Peas, Daphne Guinness, the estate of Bob Marley, Daphne Guinness, Innovative Artists, Judd Hirsch, Holland Taylor, Lucy Liu, Paradigm Talent Agency, Rick Salomon, Savvier Fitness, TalentWorks and The Gersh Agency. He and the attorneys at his firm are committed to maintaining a relaxed and approachable environment while giving the highest level of legal services.

Mr. Costa serves as outside general counsel to some clients and also handles legal matters relating to general business matters and entertainment related businesses, including copyright infringement, licensing agreements, publicity rights, real estate matters, and trademark infringement. He laso serves as a Title IX Judge in campus misconduct cases and a high level investigator of emplyment based complaints. He is commonly featured on national and international media outlets to speak on entertainment law issues.

In addition to his practice, Mr. Costa lectures on various legal topics to organizations, including the Association of Talent Agents and the Beverly Hills Bar Association. He teaches classes at the University of California, Los Angeles, and speaks at events such as the Sundance Film Festival. He has served as a judge pro tem for the Los Angeles Superior Court.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of California, Los Angeles, Mr. Costa attained his law degree from the George Washington Law School. He received his license to practice law in California in 1987 and is qualified to practice before all California state courts.
