The founder of the Myer Law Firm, Scott D. Myer, represents clients throughout the State of California. Most of his cases are Civil Rights cases, both employment litigation cases under the California Fair Employment and Housing Act or the federal equivalent Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as well as other non-employment Civil Rights cases. Mr. Myer's cases often involve sexual harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, and governmental abuse or negligence. Mr. Myer represents employees, consumers, tort victims and other plaintiffs during all aspects of the litigation process, from pre-litigation to trial and even appeal, if necessary.
Mr. Myer decided to pursue a career in law after graduating magna cum laude with a degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1983. He attended UCLA School of Law and received his Juris Doctor in 1986.
For over 3 decades Mr. Myer has been dedicated to preserving the rights of his clients. He settled a high school varsity soccer team hazing lawsuit for $4.5 Million against a local school district allocated among the 7 victim students, where his client received the highest allocation of $750,000.00 from the settlement funds in an allocation proceeding among all of the victims. He also won a multi-million dollar judgment in a contract interference and liability lawsuit, of which the liability aspect of a portion of the judgment was affirmed by the California Courts of Appeal. And, he has many 6-figure settlements, as well. A race discrimination lawsuit filed against the County of Los Angeles was settled with a $300,000.00 payment upon the board of supervisors' approval.
Many of Mr. Myer's cases have been featured in media publications such as the Los Angeles Times, The Desert Sun, The New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, The Daily Breeze, The Sacramento Bee, the Daily Journal, Law360 and Courthouse News Service. He has appeared as a guest on various news outlets, including on KNX News Radio Los Angeles and TalkRadio 790 KABC, and had televised press conferences and interviews on ABC Channel 7 News Los Angeles, CBS Channel 2 News Los Angeles, KESQ Channel 3 News Palm Springs and CBS Channel 2 Local News Palm Springs to talk about legal cases he was involved. Mr. Myer also spoke on legal protection for people who are Vegan at UCLA School of Law.
