At Aequitas Legal Group, based in Pasadena, California, Ronald Bae handles employment law issues on the plaintiff side. He launched his legal career as a Navy JAG officer with the U.S. Naval Legal Service Office Pacific in Yokosuka, Japan, home port to the Seventh Fleet. During his active-duty tour, he handled courts-martial ranging from minor infractions to major felonies, second-chairing two capital murder trials.
His work on a case involving misappropriation of classified material tied to North Korea underscored Mr. Bae’s ability to navigate national security matters. Oversight of the claims department – covering Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Diego Garcia and much of the Indian Ocean – earned him the Navy Achievement, Navy Commendation and Humanitarian Service medals.
Transitioning into private practice in Los Angeles, Mr. Bae defended attorneys in high-exposure malpractice suits and litigated complex banking, real estate and commercial disputes. He orchestrated binding arbitrations following partnership breakups and served on multidistrict litigation after a Boeing 747 crash in Guam. In one notable jury trial, he represented Alcoa, Inc., through three weeks of testimony and argument, securing a unanimous $1.9 million award for his client.
Mr. Bae now devotes his full practice to class action litigation on wage and hour claims, consumer fraud and unfair business practices. He collaborates with economists and data analysts to quantify damages, marshals documentary and expert resources, and files comprehensive complaints before state and federal tribunals. His deep courtroom background – from military tribunals to civil juries – equips him to pursue collective recovery for workers and consumers.
Earning a B.A. in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law, Mr. Bae sharpened his writing as articles editor of the Southwestern Journal of International Law. He further refined his skills through externships at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, the California Attorney General’s Office (Writs, Trials & Appeals Division) and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, gaining hands-on experience in diverse facets of litigation.
Mr. Bae is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and serves on the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Armed Forces Committee, supporting the Veterans Legal Services Project at Patriotic Hall. He volunteers with local outreach programs for veterans and has been rated “Very Good” on Avvo. Admitted to all California state courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the U.S. Supreme Court, he remains committed to achieving impactful results for his clients.
