While at law school, Mr. Burkhardt achieved commendable distinction, notably as a finalist in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. His scholarly achievements were recognized with accolades, such as the Legal Clinic Award for his exemplary performance as a criminal intern and the American Jurisprudence Award for his proficiency in trusts and estates. Demonstrating a deep commitment to environmental matters, he served on the board of directors for the Environmental Law Society. He also made significant academic contributions as a writer for the legal journal 'The Woolsack.'
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Burkhardt has demonstrated considerable involvement in the legal community as an influential participant in the San Diego North County Bar Association and the San Diego County Bar Association, where he has assumed multiple leadership positions. Obtained a favorable jury verdict against Barron Hilton on behalf of a long time friend and former business associate. The complaint alleged that Hilton had breached his obligation under a written agreement to exercise options for the purchase helicopters valued at $25 million. Obtained a $428,700 award on behalf of a real estate agent for the recovery of a commission as the procuring cause of a $10 million residential sale.
