Ashley West is an experienced corporate and real estate attorney who often serves as outside general counsel to her clients. Ms. West focuses on mergers and acquisitions, real estate purchase and sale, general corporate and business matters, and real estate leases. As the first advisor clients call, she also manages the selection and work of subject matter experts in tax law, employment law, intellectual property law, litigation, food safety, and privacy. On a typical day, Ms. West advises clients on operational issues, corporate law, shareholder rights, board rights and obligations, commercial agreements, vendor agreements, and significant transactions.
Ms. West has closed over $3.5 billion in mergers and acquisitions which include a variety of deal structures, such as stock purchases, asset purchases, and mergers across a broad spectrum of industries, including manufacturing, hospitality, health care, consulting, retail, industrial real estate, and mining. Ms. West handles transactions from the letter of intent phase through drafting and negotiating Asset Purchase Agreements, Stock Purchase Agreements, Merger Agreements, real estate Purchase and Sale Agreements, Lease Agreements, and Joint Venture Agreements.
In addition, Ms. West has steered many companies through challenging operational landscapes, including the great recession and the pandemic. After almost 25 years of practicing law, Ms. West has some context for issues that help her identify and recommend the most efficient and low risk options available.
Ms. West was named Attorney of the Year by the Solo and Small Firm Section of the California State Bar in 2015. The Sacramento County Bar Association recognized her community service by giving her the Pro Bono Award in 2017. The Unity Bar and Women Lawyers' of Sacramento recognized her with the Outstanding Community Service Award in 2012. She has been named a Woman Who Means Business by the Sacramento Business Journal, one of 40 Women Leaders in the Law in the State of California by The Recorder, one of Sacramento's Top 40 Under 40 in 2010, a Super Lawyer, a Top Lawyer by Sacramento Magazine, and Best of the Bar by the Sacramento Business Journal.
Ms. West earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri in 1997, and a law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 2000. After practicing in Missouri and Florida, she moved to California. She was admitted to practice law in California in 2004.
Ms. West has been on the board of directors of WEAVE Inc., Sacramento's primary provider of services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking since 2005. She created and built out WEAVE's legal department and guided WEAVE through a number of pandemic induced transitions.
