David S. Casey III

David S. Casey III is an associate attorney at CaseyGerry, a litigation firm in San Diego, California. In his role, he represents clients in personal injury and wrongful death actions, product liability disputes and complex civil litigation. His advocacy and courtroom acumen have earned him recognition in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch since 2021.

Born and raised in La Jolla, San Diego, Mr. Casey graduated from The Bishop’s School before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree at The University of Chicago. He then returned to California to pursue his Juris Doctor at the University of San Diego School of Law, graduating in 2019 and gaining admission to The State Bar of California that year. During law school, he concentrated on trial advocacy and participated in moot court and focused coursework to sharpen his courtroom strategy.

Mr. Casey earned a CALI Excellence for the Future Award for his paper comparing American and European views on online privacy and the “right to be forgotten.” He externed with the Honorable Anthony J. Battaglia at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California and supported case preparation at Mandell, Schwartz & Boisclair, Ltd.

In 2018, Mr. Casey attended the Trial Lawyers College’s intensive three-week program, participating in mock trials and advanced skills workshops. In 2020, he joined the inaugural Trial Advocacy Program (TAP) as a volunteer deputy district attorney for the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, where he tried multiple criminal cases. His blend of academic distinction, practical experience and courtroom success underscores his dedication to advocating for clients at CaseyGerry.

Committed to professional development, Mr. Casey remains active in the San Diego County Bar Association and attends continuing legal education seminars on trial techniques and emerging tort law issues. Outside the courtroom, he volunteers with local nonprofits and coaches law students in moot court and trial advocacy.
