Elyse B. Butler

Elyse B. Butler, CFLS, is the founder of Butler Law and a Certified Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction earned by approximately 5% of California attorneys. For more than 15 years, she has represented clients in complex family law matters involving divorce, child custody, support, property division, domestic violence restraining orders, and interstate and international move-away cases.

Known for her thorough preparation, practical guidance, and strategic advocacy, Ms. Butler develops customized legal solutions tailored to each client's unique circumstances and long-term goals. Throughout her career, Ms. Butler has represented a diverse range of clients, including professional athletes, Grammy-nominated musicians, business owners, international executives, and families navigating complex financial and custody disputes. While she is a skilled litigator with significant courtroom experience, she also recognizes when negotiation, mediation, or collaborative approaches can provide the most effective path forward.

A respected advocate both inside and outside the courtroom, Ms. Butler has earned numerous distinctions for her legal ability, ethics, and client service. Ms. Butler earned her B.A., summa cum laude, from Arizona State University and her J.D. from California Western School of Law. While in law school, she volunteered with the Domestic Violence Restraining Order Clinic and the Family Law Facilitator's Office, reflecting a longstanding commitment to serving individuals and families facing difficult legal challenges.
