Graduating with honors from Stanford University with a double major in Spanish and international relations, Ms. Schaffer joined the United States Marine Corps as a logistics officer. After serving in Okinawa, Japan, and Quantico, Virginia, for more than five years, she decided to pursue law at the University of San Diego, earning her Juris Doctor and LL.M. in taxation. After passing the bar exam, she was licensed to practice in California in 2002. She also currently serves as a deputy director for the Reserve Legal Support of the Headquarters Marine Corps in Washington, D.C.
Before starting her own firm, Ms. Schaffer worked as a financial consultant at one of the Big Four. The experience she gained there helps her assist families with their tax and financial planning needs, and her military background enables her to navigate through specific issues that are experienced by service members. She is a certified specialist in family law by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization and a certified collaborative divorce practitioner by the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Additionally, she is fluent in both Spanish and English.
Ms. Schaffer has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America’s family law category and named in the Women of Influence in Law by the San Diego Business Journal.
