Details
Cari A. Cohorn brings a proven track record of representing clients ranging from individuals to thousand-member classes, from start-ups to the Fortune 500. While the bulk of her practice focuses on litigation (both trial-level and appellate), arbitration, and crisis management, she also works diligently with her clients to manage risk and structure transactions to avoid litigation.
Cari’s experience with class action litigation and employment law issues dates back to her master’s degree research, which focused on the measurement and impact of sexual and racial harassment and discrimination and on the use of social science research in decision-making in civil litigation (e.g., class certification and calculations of damages). This research was put into practice in Cari’s work with expert witnesses and consultants in connection with litigation of individual and class-wide harassment and discrimination claims.
After graduating from Boalt Hall (UC Berkeley), where she was a member of the California Law Review, Cari became an associate at a multi-national, San Francisco-based litigation firm, focusing her practice on employment law, commercial litigation, and appeals.
Cari next practiced with, and became a partner of, one of San Francisco’s preeminent entertainment law and intellectual property boutiques. While there, she continued her active employment and commercial practices, while gaining significant expertise in intellectual property, sports and entertainment law, and technology and privacy law.
Cari is admitted to practice in all California state courts, as well as all of the federal district courts in California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  Cari is committed to providing a streamlined, agile approach to the practice of law, singularly focused on her clients’ goals.
Beyond her own practice, Cari is dedicated to community service. Among other things, she performs pro bono work for Legal Aid of Marin the Center for Protection of Athletes’ Rights and routinely volunteers as a judge for Boalt Hall’s moot court and appellate advocacy programs. In addition, Cari recently served on the advisory board and as a panel moderator for California Lawyers for the Arts’ 32nd Annual Music Business Seminar.
