Charles R. Olson

Functioning as a partner of the California-based law firm Lubin Olson & Niewiadomski LLP, Charles R. He directs his attention primarily to the fields of land use and real estate, along with affordable housing, natural resources and land use litigation. A cum laude graduate of Harvard University, Mr. Olson secured his bachelor’s degree in 1974. In 1987, he completed his doctorate in jurisprudence from the University of California Hastings, College of the Law, from which he again graduated cum laude. He is licensed to appear before all the federal courts of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.

Mr. Olson makes sure to uphold his clients’ best interests and exhibit an unwavering commitment to their needs while catering to legal needs such as obtaining entitlements and permits, carrying out real estate transactions and assessing complex mixed-use projects for value and viability. More than three decades of legal experience have provided him extensive experience to navigate the various laws that govern his field of specialization, including the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Subdivision Map Act and local planning codes along with zoning ordinances.

Using the knowledge and insights gained from these experiences, Mr. Olson guides his clients on a wide range of aspects such as acquisition, conversion, financing and development of properties. He also gives special attention to every aspect of affordable housing projects, including financing using tax-exempt bonds, Low-Income Tax Credits, and United States Department of Housing and Urban Development insured programs.
