Jessica Taran

With more than two decades of professional legal experience, attorney Jessica Taran serves as a partner at Niesar & Vestal LLP, based in San Francisco, California. An experienced litigator, she handles even complex cases involving breaches of commercial and real estate contracts, breaches of fiduciary duty, securities violations, libel, defamation, trademark issues and copyright infringement. In addition, she provides general counsel to businesses in a host of matters, ranging from entity formation and financing to business transactions, intellectual property, and employment law. 

Admitted to The State Bar of California in 2003 and the New York State Bar in 2004, Ms. Taran completed her Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2002. In law school, she was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Association, a featured writer in the Intellectual Property Law Association Journal and a recipient of the CALI Excellence for the Future Award. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science, which she completed in 1999 from the University of California Los Angeles.  

While studying law, Ms. Taran served as an intern at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office. For almost a decade, she worked for a private law firm in New York, after graduating as an attorney. There, she represented clients from public and private corporations, including hedge funds and large financial institutions, and high-net-worth individuals in complicated commercial disputes. During these years, she earned a trove of practical experience litigating cases involving the claims of trademark infringement, breach of nonsolicitation and sale of restricted stock. 

Apart from litigation, Ms. Taran also resolves her clients’ issues through negotiation and arbitration. She takes the time to research in-depth about a case at hand, before strategizing. She prioritizes providing personal attention and efficient action plans through trusted representation. She has obtained a $30 million judgment execution against a former chief executive officer in a hedge fund representation, that he assisted. Furthermore, she involves herself in community-building initiatives and serves as a board member of the Hebrew Free Loan San Francisco. She has an “Excellent” rating on Avvo.
