Ms. Mak is a civil rights and employment attorney specializing in litigation and consultation on behalf of employees and workers. She has single-plaintiff and class action litigation experience in courts and administrative agencies, including successful trial and appellate experience. Her practice areas include discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, protected leaves, and breach of contract claims. In 2016, Ms. Mak served as co-lead counsel on a jury trial which resulted in a $3.5 million total verdict for four female officers at the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. She has received several awards for her civil rights work, and frequently writes about social justice and workplace equality issues. Ms. Mak graduated from UC San Diego summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and received her law degree from UC Hastings.

In 2018, Ms. Mak was presented with the Joe Morozumi Award from AABA. Joe Morozumi was one of the first Asian-American trial lawyers in the San Francisco Bay Area and a role model of the zealous advocate for the poor and the powerless. After Joe’s passing, an award was created in his name to honor Asian-American attorneys who exemplify his spirit of uncompromising legal advocacy in matters of conscience.
