Attorney Profile

Stuart L. Gasner is an experienced of counsel attorney at Keker, Van Nest & Peters LLP. He handles both civil and criminal cases for businesses and their executives in San Francisco. The types of cases he takes on include white collar criminal law, contracts and commercial, antitrust, consumer and class actions, intellectual property, securities and professional liability. One of his biggest wins was a $45 million award, plus five years of interest, for Ferrokin's former shareholders.

Mr. Gasner completed his Bachelor of Arts at Dartmouth and graduated summa cum laude. He then obtained his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. While pursuing his Juris Doctor, he served as the editor-in-chief of the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform. Since then, he has not lost his love for writing. He has authored and co-authored several articles on court trials, criminal law, cross-examinations and the venture community.

Licensed to practice in California since 1993, Mr. Gasner is also admitted to practice in Washington, D.C., and Hawaii, where he served as an assistant U.S. attorney. After 30 years serving clients in criminal trials, few attorneys can boast the same track record for protecting their clients' freedoms. He is also well known for his knowledge and experience with biotech cases. From 2010 to the present, The Best Lawyers in America has included him on its list of Commercial Litigation, Intellectual Property Litigation, Patent Litigation and White Collar Criminal Defense, and he has been recognized by his peers and several other legal organizations.

Mr. Gasner remains active within the law community. He is a fellow and member of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers and a mediator and early neutral evaluator for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
