Ms. Lawless is a graduate of Cornell University, earning a Bachelor of Science before moving on to The George Washington University Law School to earn a Juris Doctor in 1986.  She was a member of the George Washington Law Review and graduated Order of the Coif. A member of the California Employment Lawyers Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association, The State Bar of California, the Massachusetts Bar Association, she also is a past President of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association and a past board member of the Consumer Attorneys of California.

The Recorder legal newspaper repeatedly named Ms. Lawless as one of San Francisco’s top plaintiff employment lawyers. She has represented clients in landmark cases, achieved substantial verdicts and brought attention to the issues women face in the tech and capital industries, including unequal pay claims.  Ms. Lawless is focused on protecting employees' civil rights and assisting her clients to achieve the best results possible when they have been harmed, discriminated against and mistreated in the workplace.

Ms. Lawless is a regular presenter, teaching classes and seminars for The Bar Association of San Francisco, the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, The National Employment Lawyers, the California Employment Lawyers and numerous other organizations. She has been named one of the top 50 female attorneys in Northern California for several years, was awarded Trial Lawyer of the Year by the San Francisco Trial Lawyers and was a finalist in the top 10 in 2002 for the California Consumer Attorney of the Year Award.
