Zach Ruby is a lawyer in the Washington, D.C. office of Scale LLP. He focuses his practice on litigation, particularly patent litigation, and he has litigated many different kinds of claims in many different courts and venues around the country. He has practiced before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and Ninth Circuit, various district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Ruby also has experience advising clients on intellectual property licensing, patent due diligence, and other intellectual property matters.
Mr. Ruby prides himself on developing a deep understanding of his clients' problems so that he can best pursue their interests. He has been trial counsel in several major litigations, including before the ITC. He is comfortable with many areas of technology, but his practice focuses on computer science and the electrical arts, including networking technology. In his short career, he has participated in several legal firsts, including the first-ever bench trial on the issue of IPR estoppel, which he won. He also won an issue of first impression before the Ninth Circuit addressing subject matter jurisdiction over subpoena-based disputes where the subpoena is served from an arbitration.
