The co-founder and partner at Hixson Nagatani LLP in San Jose, California, Raymond H. Hixson Jr. has dedicated his practice to providing quality legal services to businesses and employers in matters of employment and labor law. A seasoned attorney with over 30 years of experience, he has advised various technology companies in the Silicon Valley. Leveraging his extensive background and his deep legal knowledge, he has advocated for his clients before state and federal courts, arbitrators, and government agencies.

Mr. Hixson delivers strategic counsel and robust litigation defense to employers across all facets of labor law. His practice encompasses high-stakes workforce management, including terminations, hiring practices, reductions in force and executive agreements. Additionally, he advises on statutory compliance regarding wage and hour mandates, leaves of absence and disability accommodations. A key portion of his practice involves protecting company assets through noncompete enforcement, trade secret litigation and defending against discrimination and unfair competition claims.

Before pursuing his law degree, Mr. Hixson completed an undergraduate degree in industrial engineering. He proceeded to hone his trial and advocacy skills at the University of Tennessee Winston College of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1994. While at law school, he was a member of the university’s Law Review and the Constitutional Law Moot Court Team.

Practicing employment law in Tennessee for four years, Mr. Hixson gained valuable experience and insight into the workings of the judicial system. He later earned his license to practice law in California in 1998 and moved his practice there. Aiming to utilize his engineering background to help companies in litigation, he bridges the gap between complex technical concepts and effective legal strategy. His commitment to maintaining high ethical and professional standards earned him an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.

*AV®, AV Preeminent®, Martindale-Hubbell Distinguished and Martindale-Hubbell Notable are certification marks used under license in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies.
