Dax Deason is the founder and managing attorney of Deason Law, P.C., a firm with offices in San Luis Obispo CA and Houston, TX. The firm focuses its practice on corporate immigration and labor and employment law. Mr. Deason represents corporations with a wide variety of immigration matters, which include work visa sponsorship of key employees under the TN, E, H-1B, L-1, O-1, F-1 and many other temporary visa programs. Each year, the firm helps many farmers and agricultural companies employ hundreds of agricultural workers from Mexico and other countries under the H-2A and H-2B visa programs. He also frequently assists companies and individuals petition for permanent residency via the EB-1, EB-2, National Interest Waiver, and EB-3 green card programs. The firm also has been called on over the years to provide representation during government audits and litigation concerning compliance with I-9 regulations, child labor investigation, whistleblower laws, employment discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour practices, and H-2 visa program compliance.
The firm also practices in the field of employment law and has assisted employers for many years to address employee discipline issues, termination for misconduct, drafting of noncompetition agreements, defense of discrimination or harassment claims, assistance and defense during Department of Labor audits, counseling and training, advice regarding family and medical leave of absences, employee handbooks and policy development, I-9 audits, and other labor and employment advice. Most recently, the firm has been involved in assisting clients with class action and PAGA cases relating to immigrant workers who suffer or allege violations of state wage and discrimination laws.
With native fluency in Spanish, Mr. Deason is well-equipped to represent multinational companies and individuals who predominantly speak Spanish. Mr. Deason is a 1999 B.A. Spanish graduate of Emory University. He later attended St. Mary’s University School of Law and received his Juris Doctor in 2002. During his time in law school, he was part of an exchange program in international law that sent him to the University of Barcelona School of Law in 2001. He is Board-Certified in Immigration and Nationality law and in Labor and Employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is licensed to practice law in the important markets of Texas, California and Washington D.C. and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Texas.
