Nathaniel A. Smith

Nathaniel "Nate" Smith aims to serve two distinct roles for his clients, acting as both an advocate and a counselor.   He works tirelessly to guide his clients through what is almost always one of the hardest situations of their lives... a tremendous injury or loss.  He has extensive experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation claims.  He understands both sides of the coin.   He uses this hard-earned experience and knowledge to maximize the results for his clients who have been wrongfully injured or harmed by the acts of others. 

Nate has obtained winning verdicts in every jury and court trial he has ever handled. He was also directly involved in the PG&E Tubbs Fire (Calistoga/Santa Rosa), working to prove PG&E power lines were the cause of this devastating fire which killed 22 people and resulted in billions of dollars in property damage. He has won many judgments prior to trial where the court has ruled in his client's favor as a matter of law.   Nate has successfully handled hundreds of cases, including those involving catastrophic personal injuries, wrongful death, products liability, attempted murder, sexual assault, premises liability, and construction defects.  He has also been recognized as a Super Lawyer "Rising Star" five times since 2015.  

Nate has been an active member of the legal community throughout his career, serving on the Board of Directors of the Solano County Bar Association from 2010-2015.  He was honored to serve as President of the Solano County Bar Association in 2014.  While serving as President, Nate established the "Raising the Bar" scholarship which aimed to assist high school graduates to purchase clothes, tools, and other equipment needed begin their careers as young adults. 

In his spare time, Nate is an assistant golf coach at his high school alma mater and a dedicated swim dad, accompanying his two sons to swim meets throughout the western US.  He and his amazing wife Marissa are also very involved in the special needs community, due in large part to Nate's "special" younger brother Ben.  Nate is a third generation Northern Californian, and he cares deeply for his community. 

Nate accepts clients throughout California, having successfully represented clients in Sonoma, Napa, Marin, Lake, Solano, Yolo, Sacramento, Yuba, Sutter, Placer, Nevada, El Dorado, Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, Butte, San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Madera, Merced, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego and Riverside Counties.  Nate has also performed extensive work for his clients in Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Illinois, Florida, and Virginia.
