Since 1989, Mr. Nicolaysen has concentrated his law practice on the representation of individuals and business entities in federal criminal prosecutions, federal agency investigations, and grand jury proceedings. In the health care field, Mr. Nicolaysen provides compliance counseling to health care entities in regard to federal agency regulations; develops and oversees compliance programs; and represents health care providers in connection with Medicare audits and health care fraud investigations.
Mr. Nicolaysen's area of expertise covers a wide range of federal enforcement including white collar crimes such as bank fraud, securities fraud, money laundering and health care fraud, as well non-white collar crimes such as narcotics, RICO and firearm offenses. He has represented over 750 clients in federal criminal matters.
Mr. Nicolaysen's credentials include being certified as a specialist in criminal law by the State Bar of California since 1997; annual listings in the Super Lawyer directory; annual AV Preeminent ratings by Martindale-Hubbell; and hundreds of endorsements on Linkedin. In 1988-89, he served as the Assistant Regional Director in the Los Angeles office of the Federal Trade Commission, focusing on civil fraud enforcement. Mr. Nicolaysen is also the founder of the Association Of Federal Defense Attorneys (AFDA), an online legal community that provides online education and resources for the federal defense bar.Â
