Krista V. Nash, the principal attorney and owner of her own law practice, Children First Family Law, PC, in Arvada, Colorado, is deeply committed to the intricacies of family law. She believes in guiding her clients through the complex decisions that affect their future and more importantly, the future of their children. With a profound understanding of both the emotional and legal challenges presented by family law cases, Ms. Nash works diligently to achieve resolutions that prioritize the welfare of children and the preservation of family relationships.
Ms. Nash's approach to family law is shaped by her extensive background in high-pressure litigation and her firm belief in the benefits of resolving disputes outside the courtroom. Recognized throughout Colorado and nationally, she is a sought-after child advocate known for her thoughtful and innovative solutions that avoid adversarial litigation, which she views as potentially harmful to familial bonds and emotional well-being.
Before founding her own firm, Ms. Nash gained valuable experience in various legal settings including courtrooms and a boutique matrimonial law firm. Her decision to start her own practice was driven by a desire to focus more on child-centered issues, cost-effective solutions, and maintaining civility during disputes. In her practice, she serves as a child’s legal representative or CLR and is a leader in this field both locally and nationally. Her extensive experience also includes roles as a child and family investigator (CFI), guardian ad litem (GAL), and Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer.
While children are a central focus of her work, Ms. Nash extends her compassionate and empathetic approach to all clients involved in family law matters. She represents spouses in divorce proceedings and acts as a mediator, arbitrator and parenting coordinator/decision-maker, striving to find solutions that reduce conflict and help families transition into new, functional relationships.
Ms. Nash’s diverse background includes a career as a Pulitzer-nominated journalist and a marketer in Silicon Valley before she turned to law. She holds a J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and has been admitted to practice in Colorado and Wyoming. She is also a recognized speaker on child advocacy, a member of several professional organizations and actively involved in legislative committees focused on family law.
