Christopher L. Silversmith

Christopher L. Silversmith, the founder of Silversmith Legal, focuses his practice on estate planning and probate matters. His firm is based in Avon, Colorado, and he represents clients in Vail and other parts of Eagle County and throughout the state. Mr. Silversmith attended the University of Miami, where he majored in finance and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2002. He then went on to pursue his legal education at Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in Orlando. While he was there, Mr. Silversmith served as an associate editor of the Barry Law Review and participated in a national moot court competition before obtaining his Juris Doctor in 2008.

After he graduated from law school, Mr. Silversmith furthered his legal education at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, studying taxation and receiving an LL. M. in 2009. He then worked as an attorney with a Coral Gables law firm before moving to Colorado and joining a firm in Vail. Mr. Silversmith opened his own practice in June 2016. He is admitted to practice before all Colorado state courts and is also admitted to practice in Florida, Washington and the District of Columbia.

Mr. Silversmith prepares and reviews wills, complex trusts, financial and health care powers of attorney when he is assisting clients with the planning of their estates. He often uses his tax law background in developing strategies to minimize the federal tax burden on his clients’ heirs and beneficiaries, and he has guided clients through what is often a protracted and complicated probate process.
