Attorney Janene K. McCabe is the founder and owner of McCabe Law in Boulder, Colorado. Nationally recognized as among the leading trial lawyers in the country, Ms. McCabe focuses her practice solely on criminal defense, and she provides invaluable counsel and support to clients throughout the greater Boulder metro and surrounding areas who stand accused of any type of felony or misdemeanor offense.
Prior to entering private practice, Ms. McCabe served with the Colorado State Public Defender's Office, where she achieved remarkable success advocating on behalf of those who may have little to no legal options available to them. From her success, she received the Colorado State Public Defender of the Year award in 2009, and she has received many other top rankings and endorsements from her peers.
Among her other notable accolades, Ms. McCabe has earned an AV Preeminent peer review rating* from Martindale-Hubbell and a Top 100 Trial Lawyers ranking from The National Trial Lawyers. She has also received 10 out of 10 client ratings on Avvo as well as many testimonials and referrals from her satisfied clients.
A 1993 graduate of Illinois State University, Ms. McCabe obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2001. She is admitted to practice before all Colorado state courts as well as the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.
Ms. McCabe is a board member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar and the National Association for Public Defense, where she has chaired the association's Fines and Fees Committee. She has also lobbied before the United States Commission on Civil Rights on the constitutionality of imposing jail sentences on those who cannot afford to pay court costs and fees. She is also an active member of the Colorado Women's Bar Association, among her other professional affiliations.
A leader in her field, she has conducted numerous lectures and continuing legal education seminars across her region on a variety of topics related to criminal defense, civil rights and other related subjects.
