Sangeetha Mallavarapu, a founding partner at SM Family Law in Boulder, Colorado, has been practicing law in the state since 2010. Starting her career at two well-known Denver law firms, she began by exploring the realms of employment and general civil litigation. However, in 2014, her own encounters with family law issues ignited a passion that led her to redirect her path toward this field. She combines empathy and creativity to guide clients through complex life changes. She offers a variety of family law services, including but not limited to:
• Adoption
• Alimony and spousal support
• Child support
• Custody and visitation
• Dissolution
• Divorce
• Domestic violence
• Juvenile law
• Name change
• Paternity
• Prenuptial agreements
• Marital property
• Same-sex family law
• Fathers’ rights
Beyond these areas, Ms. Mallavarapu is adept at alternative dispute resolution and engaging in collaborative law, mediation, and arbitration. As a parent, she assists others by serving as a Parenting Coordinator/Decision-Maker, striving to resolve custody disputes amicably. She has a talent for helping clients avoid unrealistic demands and promoting teamwork with the other side, often leading to settlements without going to court. However, if the case goes to a hearing, her strong courtroom skills and knowledge of legal processes make her a committed advocate, focused on getting the best results for her clients.
Ms. Mallavarapu’s educational journey began at Boston University, where she earned bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology, eventually leading her to pursue law at the University of Colorado School of Law. She received her Juris Doctor degree in 2010. There, she explored various legal realms through the Family Law and Criminal Defense Clinics. Starting her legal career in employment litigation, she honed her skills in managing intricate cases and negotiations. Her own challenging divorce ignited her passion for family law.
Active in the legal community, Ms. Mallavarapu participates in the Boulder County Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, the South Asian Bar Association, the Colorado Collaborative Divorce Professionals, the Boulder & Metro Denver Interdisciplinary Committees and the Minoru Yasui American Inn of Court. Her commitment to her field is further evidenced by her "Excellent" rating on Avvo.
