A skilled estate planning and elder law attorney, John D. Konz is a shareholder at JBP Legal in Broomfield, Colorado. He understands the importance of estate planning and tailors plans to the particular needs of golden agers and their families, helping them clearly state their wishes and protect their assets for future generations.
Mr. Konz’s areas of practice include estate planning, wills and trusts, powers of attorney, contested and uncontested probate, guardianships, conservatorships, Medicaid, long-term care planning and crisis planning. He also helps families and business owners with business succession planning, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, sale of an existing business and formation of new businesses.
Majoring in political science, Mr. Konz graduated with honors from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2010. He then received his Juris Doctor with a concentration on business law from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 2016. He obtained his license to practice in Colorado the same year.
As an outshining law student, Mr. Konz was placed on the dean’s list, and he served as the senior associate editor of Hofstra Law Review. He participated in many mock trial competitions and received several awards including the Gina Maria Escarce Memorial Scholarship Award and the Kathleen Beckett Memorial Award. He was part of the Tax Law Society, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Clinic and the Theodore Roosevelt American Inn of Court.
Mr. Konz started his career as a legal intern at the Colorado Supreme Court and the Colorado Attorney General's Office – Revenue and Utilities Section. He then worked for one of the largest law firms in New York City where he provided tax services to leading global organizations.
Active in his community, Mr. Konz is a member of the prestigious National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and the Colorado Bar Association. He also devotes a part of his time to helping clients on a pro bono basis.
