Matthew C. Clawson is a Colorado trial attorney and Managing Partner of Clawson & Clawson, LLP, a Colorado law firm he co-founded with his father and brother in 2004. Based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mr. Clawson represents clients in complex divorce, high-asset divorce, family law, and personal injury matters throughout Colorado.
With more than 25 years of legal experience, Mr. Clawson is an experienced trial attorney and negotiator. His family law practice includes sophisticated cases involving high-value marital estates, closely held businesses, business valuations, executive compensation, professional practices, investment and brokerage accounts, retirement assets, real estate, maintenance, child support, and contested parenting issues.
Throughout his career, Mr. Clawson has represented business owners, executives, physicians, attorneys, judges, certified public accountants, commercial airline pilots, senior military and government officers, and other professionals whose cases often involve significant financial or professional complexities.

Mr. Clawson earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado. He received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University. His combined legal and business education provides a strong foundation for representing clients in divorce cases involving complex financial analysis, business interests, asset valuation, executive compensation, and other sophisticated economic issues.
Mr. Clawson is admitted to practice before all Colorado state courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has also volunteered with the Colorado Attorney Mentoring Program (CAMP), mentoring fellow Colorado attorneys and contributing to the development of the legal profession.
Dedicated to community service, Mr. Clawson has held significant leadership positions with Scouting America, formerly the Boy Scouts of America, including serving as President for two years and as a member of the Executive Committee for eight years. In recognition of his distinguished service to youth and the community, he received the Silver Beaver Award, one of the highest honors presented by a local Scouting council. His community involvement has also included the Boys & Girls Club of the Pikes Peak Region, restorative justice programs, and Pikes Peak United Way.
A native Coloradan and second-generation Colorado attorney, Mr. Clawson is proud to continue his family's tradition of practicing law in Colorado. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and five children and pursuing Colorado's outdoors.
After earning his bachelor’s degree, Mr. Clawson went on to graduate from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He also holds a master of business administration degree from the University of Colorado. He holds licenses to practice law before all Colorado state courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and the Supreme Court of the United States.
