Danaé D. Kinnett, formerly Danaé D. Woody, founded Kinnett & Cordes (formerly Woody Law Firm, LLC) in 2014. She is a Colorado family law attorney whose practice includes complex divorce litigation, allocation of parental responsibilities, including child support modification and enforcement, nontraditional family formation and dissolution, adoption, and family law appeals.
Ms. Kinnett has represented clients in matters before the Colorado Court of Appeals, including the published decision Nguyen v. Lai, and appeals involving marriage, parental responsibilities, and other domestic-relations issues. She brings substantial litigation experience to matters involving high net worth estates and complex financial issues, difficult parenting disputes, and legally and factually complex family structures.
A significant part of Ms. Kinnett’s career has been devoted to expanding access to legal representation. She was a co-founder of the Federal Limited Appearance Program (FLAP) in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and previously led the Colorado Bar Association’s “Unbundled Roadshow,” presenting on limited-scope and unbundled legal services to lawyers, judges, and legal organizations throughout Colorado. She continues to teach and present continuing legal education programs on family law, ethics, civil procedure, access to justice, and the business and practice of law.
Ms. Kinnett has held numerous leadership positions in the Colorado and Denver legal communities. She served as an Executive Council Member of the Colorado Bar Association Family Law Section (2015–2019), Chair of the Colorado Bar Association Young Lawyers Division (2019–2020), President of the Colorado Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Board of Directors (2021–2022), and President of the Denver Bar Association (2025–2026).
She is a mentor through the University of Denver’s Professional Mentoring Program and has written for The Colorado Lawyer and The Docket. In 2015, the National Association of Distinguished Counsel named her to its annual list of the Nation's Top One Percent. In addition, the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys has named her as one of Colorado's Top 10 Family Law Attorneys Under Age 40.
Ms. Kinnett is particularly committed to helping clients navigate difficult family law disputes with diligence, compassion, creativity, and a focus on practical solutions.
