Mr. Japha has also been involved in many appeals, both criminal and civil in state and federal court.
Mr. Japha became a licensed attorney in the state of Colorado in 1984 and is a graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He practices before all Colorado state courts and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.

While attending law school, Mr. Japha authored an article on successor corporate liability in products liability cases for the Denver Law Review and participated in a student law office program, where he tried his first DUI case. During his third year, he argued an administrative appeal case before the U.S. Social Security Administration. Recently, Mr. Japha edited a West Law article for the practitioners on the topic of statutes of limitations regarding various causes of action.
Upon receiving his law license, Mr. Japha opened his own firm with his partners at Levin Jacobson Japha P.C. and handled collection, eviction and federal criminal matters. His criminal experience resulted in appointment to the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado’s Criminal Justice Act Standing Committee, where he participated in the appointment of conflict counsel in federal criminal matters.
During the COVID pandemic, Mr. Japha maintained his practice attending trials, hearings and depositions through video interactions.
