David C. Japha

Attorney David C. Japha is a partner of Levin Jacobson Japha P.C. in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Japha practices law with extraordinary passion in the areas of administrative law, business law, civil litigation, commercial litigation and criminal defense law, representing his clients' interests throughout Colorado. He handles cases involving new business formation, litigation and organization as well as domestic relations and white collar matters. He has experience in both state, federal, administrative and appellate courts.  But more than "representing clients" and "handling cases", Mr. Japha is your advocate, seeking a just and proper resolution consistent with your life.

Over the course of his 39 years in practice, Mr. Japha has developed a reputation as an accomplished litigator and negotiator. He has been involved in high-profile criminal matters in various states throughout the country and has served as an expert witness.  Mr. Japha has also been involved in many appeals, both criminal and civil in state and federal court. 

Mr. Japha became a licensed attorney in the state of Colorado in 1984 and is a graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He practices before all Colorado state courts and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. 

Mr. Japha has been selected to SuperLawyers from 2019 through the present and this year he has been selected to be a member of Premier Appellate Attorneys and Lawyers of Distinction.  In addition, Levin Jacobson Japha has been selected to BEST Lawyers in US NEWS in 2022. 

While attending law school, Mr. Japha authored an article on successor corporate liability in products liability cases for the Denver Law Review and participated in a student law office program, where he tried his first DUI case. During his third year, he argued an administrative appeal case before the U.S. Social Security Administration. Recently, Mr. Japha edited a West Law article for the practitioners on the topic of statutes of limitations regarding various causes of action.

Upon receiving his law license, Mr. Japha opened his own firm with his partners at Levin Jacobson Japha P.C. and handled collection, eviction and federal criminal matters. His criminal experience resulted in appointment to the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado’s Criminal Justice Act Standing Committee, where he participated in the appointment of conflict counsel in federal criminal matters.

During the COVID pandemic, Mr. Japha maintained his practice attending trials, hearings and depositions through video interactions.  Mr. Japha is available as your advocate regardless of what is happening in the world.  Mr. Japha knows that to you, your life, and your matters are the most important things.
