Attorney Profile

J. Kent Miller has 50 years of specialization in insurance industry standards and insurance law in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain west.  After thirteen years in a Denver insurance defense firm (ten years as partner) he joined as a partner the plaintiff practice known thereafter as Gerash, Robinson, Miller & Miranda.  In 1987 he founded Miller & McCarren P.C. of which he was Of Counsel until 2013.

Mr. Miller now limits his practice to expert witness and consultation services for other attorneys or law firms. Such engagements include opinions on insurance coverage and expert witness opinions on insurance bad faith and legal malpractice together with testimony in state and federal courts as requested. He has provided expert witness testimony in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, and other jurisdictions. His four-volume treatise, Colorado Personal Injury Practice - Torts & Insurance (West Publishing, 3rd ed. 2012) has been cited in published opinions of the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Colorado Supreme Court, U.S. District Courts, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. The third edition was completely revised and published in late 2012.
