Attorney Profile

As one of the founding partners of the Colorado law firm of Bachus & Schanker, LLC, attorney J. Kyle Bachus provides exceptional advocacy and support to clients throughout the state and across the country who have serious, pressing and complex legal issues involving any of the following:

·       Plaintiff personal injury claims arising from motor vehicle accidents, defective products and other acts of negligence

·       Defective medical devices

·       Dangerous pharmaceuticals

·       Workers' compensation

·       Social Security Disability

·       Wage and hour claims and other plaintiff employment law matters

Over the course of his legal career, Mr. Bachus has achieved significant success advocating on behalf of those suffering needlessly through no fault of their own, but one of his most inspiring successes came as the result of his representing injured and disabled emergency medical workers in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

Along with maintaining a successful legal practice, Mr. Bachus has become a nationally recognized advocate for the rights of consumers, and he has lobbied extensively and drafted legislation to help adversely affected consumers. Among his most notable achievements was the Make Whole bill that was enacted in 2010 to provide better recourse for injury victims to receive the full amount of compensation they deserve. He has also helped spur changes in legislation involving uninsured motorists and "safety net" insurance coverage.

As further evidence of his leadership in his legal community, Mr. Bachus currently serves on the board of directors of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, and he sits on many of the organization's committees, including serving as co-chair of its Auto Litigation Committee. He also serves on the American Association for Justice's board of governors and many of the organization's committees, and he is an active member of the Colorado and Denver Bar associations, as well as The Florida Bar and the Florida Justice Association, among others.

Recognized for his professionalism and service, Mr. Bachus holds an AV Preeminent peer review rating* from Martindale-Hubbell, and he has received many other top rankings from his peers. A 1989 graduate of the University of Florida, he returned to his alma mater and obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1992. He holds his license to practice in Florida and Colorado along with the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the District of Colorado.

*AV®, AV Preeminent®, Martindale-Hubbell Distinguished and Martindale-Hubbell Notable are certification marks used under license in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies.
