Details
John Eckelberry is the founding member of Eckelberry Law Firm, LLC, established in 2006 in Denver, Colorado. He is in charge of the firm's family law practice as well as bankruptcy matters, including a focus in bankruptcy litigation when divorce issues exist.
During his 20+ years of practice, Mr. Eckelberry has provided dedicated representation to clients throughout the Denver metropolitan area, helping them to make personal and financial fresh starts. Mr. Eckelberry is a strong supporter of alternative representation models and thus provides both limited scope representation and a sliding scale hourly rate to provide options for clients who don't want traditional representation.
After graduating in 1994 from the University of Colorado Boulder, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in history and was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, Mr. Eckelberry went on to earn his Juris Doctor at Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver in 1998.
Frequently called upon to speak at legal seminars and conferences, Mr. Eckelberry has contributed his insight and background to numerous publications as well, and served as editor of the 2006, 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2021 editions of the Domestic Relations Bench Book published by the Colorado Bar Association. In recognition of his successful record and ethical standards, Martindale-Hubbell has awarded him its AV-Preeminent* rating.
An active participant in numerous professional and community organizations, Mr. Eckelberry is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, where he is a Former Chair for the executive council of its Family Law Section, and is also a member of the Arapahoe, Jefferson and Denver County bar associations. He is a former board member for Metro Volunteer Lawyers, an organization that provides pro bono legal services to low-income residents in the Denver area.
*AV-Preeminent and BV-Distinguished are certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Martindale-Hubbell is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell ratings fall into two categories – legal ability and general ethical standards.
