As a partner at The Mellon Law Firm, Joseph Mellon provides dedicated legal representation to clients in the Denver, Colorado, area and throughout the state. Before he received a Juris Doctor from the Michigan State University College of Law in 1974, Mr. Mellon attended Central Michigan University. From there, he earned a Bachelor of Science in education in 1970.
Mr. Mellon has more than 40 years of experience as a civil trial lawyer. He has achieved positive resolutions for his clients in a broad variety of cases, including business disputes, contract disputes, injury claims and insurance claims. Mr. Mellon's notable successes include obtaining an award of $18.75 million against the head of a ponzi investment scheme, $7 million award on behalf of parties injured in a car crash $4.6 million in damages for a disabled veteran in a malpractice case against the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Mellon also managed multi-state wage and hour class action claims against a national retailer resulting in over $100 million in settlements. He is admitted to practice law in the states of Colorado and Michigan. Â His practice is national in scope, having handled matters throughout the country and Puerto Rico.
Staying active in the legal community is a priority for Mr. Mellon. His memberships include the Denver Bar Association, the Litigation Section of the Colorado Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan's Negligence Law Section, the Faculty of Federal Advocates and the American Association for Justice. Mr. Mellon has served on the board of directors for the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association and he previously served as president of the Minoru Yasui American Inn of Court. Â He is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and has a Preeminent AV rating with Martindale Hubbell.
