Kaela Zihlman

A shareholder at Wells Family Law PC, Kaela Zihlman focuses her practice on family law, primarily comprising complex financial issues, valuation of business and professional practices, trusts, and the allocation of parental responsibilities. Basing her practice in Denver, Colorado, she also handles complicated legal scenarios involving domestic violence, substance abuse, and neurodivergent and special needs children. 

Representing individuals and families caught up in the tangles of family law issues for more than six years, Ms. Zihlman has been recognized with selection to the list of ‘Ones to Watch in Family Law’ by The Best Lawyers in America. She prioritizes the needs and well-being of her clients, making sure to extend a compassionate hand to those struggling to navigate the intricacies of family law. 

Majoring in English literature at the University of Colorado Boulder, Ms. Zihlman graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2011. She proceeded to complete her Juris Doctor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2016, with an additional certification in constitutional rights and remedies. Licensed to practice law in Colorado in 2017, she joined a private firm where she served for over four years before exploring the field of law at other firms.

With an “Excellent” rating on Avvo, Ms. Zihlman combines her experiences working for a judge at the Denver District Court and those gained over the years as an attorney, to advocate for the rights of her clients. Having witnessed hundreds of hearings and drafted numerous orders on behalf of the court, she utilizes her insights to empower her clients to make decisions based on comparisons between the advantages of settlement versus litigation.

An active member of the Colorado legal community, Ms. Zihlman serves as the chair of the Executive Council of the Young Lawyers Division of the Colorado Bar Association. In addition, she co-chairs the organization’s Legislative Policy Committee of its Family Law Section as well.
