Katherine Ellis

I earned a double major in International Affairs and Foreign Languages from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. I earned my juris doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and also earned a masters of arts in international studies from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies.

After graduating, I clerked at the Colorado Court of Appeals for the Honorable Russell Carparelli for one year before entering private practice. While in private practice, I have focused almost exclusively on family law cases.pro bono obligations.  To support that effort, I represent clients pro bono through the Colorado Appellate Pro Bono project and participate in a workshop for pro se parties in divorces and custody cases through the Family Tree. 

I am a member of the Family Law Section and of the International Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association.  I am also a member of the Colorado Women’s Bar Association.  Since 2011, I have been honored to serve as the Regional Administrator for the Rocky Mountain Region of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, which is the largest moot court competition in the world.  I was previously a Co-Chair and later a Chair of the International Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association.  I have served on the board of the Council for American Students in International Organizations and was previously the Chair of CASIN's Publications Committee.  I am currently a member of the William E. Doyle Inn of Court and previously served as a Co-President of the Byron White Inn of Court.
