As a partner at Zaner Law in Denver, Colorado, attorney Kurt Zaner has passionately devoted his career to championing the underdog against today's corporate giants. He relishes the challenge of advocating for individuals who face daunting odds against powerful entities unwilling to acknowledge their responsibilities. His practice spans personal injury law, insurance coverage and product liability, among others.
Mr. Zaner holds a B.A. from the University of Florida, where he studied history with a focus on the Roman Empire and minored in business. He graduated magna cum laude with a J.D. from the University of Florida – Fredric G. Levin College of Law in 2006. After ranking near the top of his class and receiving the prestigious American Bar Association and American Law Institute’s Best Graduate Award for exemplifying a blend of scholarship and leadership, he clerked for United States District Judge Ken Marra. He obtained his legal license in Florida in 2007 and in Colorado in 2009.
In his practice, Mr. Zaner has achieved remarkable successes, including securing the largest premises liability verdict in Colorado's history at $16 million and a substantial $30 million personal injury verdict in Federal Court. Renowned as a national narrator, he shares his insights on trial techniques, effective legal writing and strategies for securing top-value settlements. He regularly addresses audiences at the American Association of Justice and Trial Lawyers University, and he is a frequent speaker at the National Trial Lawyers’ seminars.
Mr. Zaner has made appearances on World News Tonight, Good Morning America and various local media platforms, including the Denver Post and local CBS, AB and Fox affiliates. He has published works on Federal and State case law, highlighting Colorado's legislation that grants victims of drunk driving incidents the right to seek punitive damages. He has also authored articles on distracted driving and ancient Roman trial methods.
An esteemed figure in the legal community, Mr. Zaner is actively involved with the Trial Lawyer community both locally and nationally. He has been elected to the Board of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA) for five consecutive years and participates in several committees. Before co-founding Zaner Law, he honed his skills with some of the country's most renowned trial lawyers. He has successfully represented hundreds of clients throughout Colorado, achieving numerous million and multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements across all levels of Colorado State Court.
