Mathew S. Shechter

Mathew S. Shechter is a partner at Denver, Colorado-based McNamara & Shechter LLP. He focuses his practice on employment and labor law matters on behalf of employees, union members, and small businesses throughout the state. Mr. Shechter has successfully fought on behalf of his clients in cases involving discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, employment contract disputes, labor arbitrations, wage and hour claims, trade secrets and unemployment appeals, and he has appeared before the Colorado State and Federal Courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Colorado State Personnel Board, the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, and innumerable mediators and arbitrators.

A 2005 graduate of Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science in business, Mr. Shechter attended the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 2009. He joined his current firm as an associate after graduation and became a partner in 2016. He is admitted to practice law before all Colorado state courts as well as before the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. Always seeking to stay abreast of current developments in his field of practice, Mr. Shechter is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association and the Colorado Plaintiff Employment Lawyers Association.

During his career, Mr. Shechter has represented clients in arbitration and mediation proceedings as well as in litigation. His successes that he has been able to obtain on their behalf include a settlement in excess of $800,000 in a case arising under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. Mr. Shechter's track record has not gone unnoticed by his fellow professionals, as evidenced by his receipt of a "Superb" peer review rating through AVVO, and repeated selections as a Colorado Super Lawyers Rising Star.
