Penny M. Merkel

Firmly aligning herself with the cause of justice, attorney Penny M. Merkel has been serving injured workers throughout Colorado from her law firm – The Merkel Law Firm, LLC, located in Denver, Colorado. Navigating the state law for workers’ compensation, she makes sure that the problems of her clients are heard and understood in order to suggest resolution methods tailored to suit their needs.

Having graduated from the University of Colorado Denver, with an undergraduate degree in business administration, Ms. Merkel achieved a cum laude distinction. Later, she joined the Florida Coastal School of Law, from where she also graduated cum laude with her doctorate in jurisprudence. A native of Colorado, she was under the mentorship of the renowned workers’ compensation attorney – Barbara J. Furutani, under whom she honed her skills in the arena.

As a proud member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA) and the Workers' Compensation Education Association (WCEA), Ms. Merkel actively engages in the legal community and is committed to improving the lives of workers in the state. The WCEA, a nonprofit association of attorneys who represent Colorado employees injured on the job, has been dedicated to providing a voice for injured workers for nearly four decades.

Beyond her professional affiliations, Ms. Merkel is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Denver Bar Association and the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Colorado Bar Association.
