Richard J. Rotole

Richard J. Rotole is the managing member at the Denver law firm of Rotole & Rotole, LLC, and is a member of Denver Mediation Experts, which are Tier One Best Law Firms according to U.S. News and World Report. Since 1986, Mr. Rotole focused his practice on litigating and negotiating complex family law cases. He has demonstrated considerable trial skills and has achieved excellent results in the courtroom over the span of a 37 year career, working tirelessly for his clients.  Now, through his firm Denver Mediation Experts, he currently focuses his practice on mediation, arbitration and special master appointments in complex family law cases. As a Mediator, he has a very high rate of settlement.  He is a fair and thoughtful arbitrator when called upon to make decisions for parties and their counsel who choose this alternative to a trial before the court.  When appointed by the Court in the role of Special Master, he often addresses very complex issues such as business valuations, classification and valuation of separate and marital property, the validity of pre-nuptial and marital agreements, discovery disputes and other exceptional circumstances that need the attention of a recognized expert.

Mr. Rotole began his legal career in 1986 after earning his law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and his admission to practice law in Colorado. In addition to his admission to practice law in all of Colorado's state courts, he is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and the United States Supreme Court.

Over the course of Mr. Rotole's 37 year career, he has earned the respect of both his clients and his peers. This respect has resulted in a number of honors and awards, including Best Lawyers in America, Colorado Super Lawyers and 5280 Magazine's Top Lawyers in Colorado.  His peers have chosen him seven times, as Lawyer of the Year in family law for Denver in 2013, Lawyer of the Year in family law mediation for Denver in 2015, 2019 and 2024, and Lawyer of the Year in family law arbitration for Denver in 2018, 2021 and 2024. He is named a Top Lawyer by 5280 Magazine for 2015 through 2023.  He has achieved a "Superb" rating from Avvo and an AV Preeminent peer-review rating from Martindale-Hubbell.  He has been named a Colorado Super Lawyer each year since 2008 and is named a Top 100 Colorado Super Lawyer in 2012 - 2013 and 2015 through 2023.  He has been recognized in Law Week Colorado as the Barrister's Best, People's Choice in Mediation and Arbitration in 2019 and 2022.

Mr. Rotole is also an active member of the legal community and his local community. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association's Family Law Section, and he is the former co-chair of the Colorado Bar Association's Family Law Section Legislative Committee. In addition, he has served his community as officer and director of the Lupus Foundation of Colorado and the American Thrombosis Association.
