Sean McDermott

Sean McDermott is a seasoned attorney and the owner of The Law Office of Sean McDermott, located in Denver, Colorado. Practicing in Colorado for over 25 years, his legal practice encompasses both criminal defense and civil litigation. 

Mr. McDermott’s practice prominently includes defending individuals charged with crimes and advocating for those who have suffered personal injuries or civil rights violations. His initial legal experience was gained at the Colorado Public Defender’s Office, where he robustly defended clients across the state. This foundational role honed his skills in handling complex criminal cases at both state and federal levels, involving charges such as homicide, sexual assault, drug violations and white collar crimes.

Since obtaining his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 1998, Mr. McDermott has dedicated his career to vigorously representing his clients in a variety of legal matters. His commitment to criminal defense is further evidenced by his service on the board of directors of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, including a term as president from 2013 to 2014.

In addition to his criminal defense work, Mr. McDermott has successfully expanded his practice into the civil arena. His goal in civil litigation, similar to his criminal defense work, is to secure favorable outcomes for his clients, whether through settlements or court judgments.

Mr. McDermott is admitted to practice in several courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. His professional affiliations are extensive, maintaining active memberships in organizations such as the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, among others.
