Attorney Profile

Using mediation tactics, litigation skills and any other means necessary, Timothy M. Garvey has recovered millions of dollars for people in Colorado who have suffered a personal injury or disability. He is an attorney at McDermott Law LLC, where he handles cases in Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Denver and other communities.

Mr. Garvey has devoted the majority of his career to fighting for clients’ rights when it comes to insurance coverage, bad faith claims and Employee Retirement Income Security Act issues. Having lived in Colorado for decades, he is highly familiar not only with the laws that apply to a client’s case but also to the specific ways in which people here are affected by a short- or long-term disability.

Based on his ability to aggressively represent clients while at the same time treating them with compassion, Mr. Garvey has been widely recognized throughout the legal community. The American Society of Legal Advocates has listed him in its Top 40 Lawyers Under 40; he holds an Avvo “Superb” rating; he is a fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation; and he has received pro bono awards from the Colorado Bar Association and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.

In 2010, Mr. Garvey received a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.

Today, Mr. Garvey is a board member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association and is active with the Colorado Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, the American Association for Justice and the Colorado Plaintiff Employee Lawyers Association.

When he is not serving clients, Mr. Garvey spends his time traveling with his wife and enjoying the Rocky Mountains.
