    Attorney Profile

Solution-oriented and child-focused, Zachary S. Roeling (Zac) brings a track record of firm advocacy and problem-solving to the practice of family law, whether the issue is financial or child-related. He represents the people of Colorado in legal issues both complex and simple related to legal separation and divorce, custody (or allocation of parental responsibilities), maintenance (alimony), post-decree modifications of custody, including child relocation and removal disputes, same-sex divorce and civil unions, unmarried partner disputes, property division, child support, complex custody matters, premarital and marital agreements, and probate administration. He is as equally comfortable in court as he is settling cases in the conference room without resorting to judges.

Mr. Roeling is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the National LGBT Bar Association, the Colorado LGBT Bar Association and the Denver Bar Association. Fluent in both English and French, he has years of experience mediating and litigating common law marriage, legal separation, custody and divorce for clients throughout the state. His experience includes complex dissolution matters regarding trusts, business valuations, and complicated custody issues. He is adept at distilling nuanced issues into simple language everyone can understand. He neither picks fights nor backs down from them when warranted.

Zac, a Colorado native, holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and French at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He graduated with a Dean's Scholarship from the College of Arts and Sciences and a Katherine Jacob Lamont Scholarship in the Humanities. He graduated from the University Of Denver Sturm College of Law with his Juris Doctor as a recipient of the Robert B. Yegge Memorial Scholarship. As a student attorney, he mediated several cases in both federal and state courts for the Mediation & Arbitration Clinic, and has continued a mediation practice as an attorney, helping clients reach resolution outside the courtroom.

Admitted to practice in the state of Colorado, he takes the time to give back to his community. Mr. Roeling formerly worked with Colorado Legal Services and gained a deep understanding of the need for pro bono representation. He also spent time in Paris, teaching English to middle school and elementary students.
