- A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed following the death of a 77-year-old woman at a memory care facility in Northglenn, Colorado, after video evidence allegedly showed staff repeatedly failed to assist her following multiple falls. According to the lawsuit filed in Adams County, Kathleen Griffin was admitted to Northglenn Heights Assisted Living and Memory Care Community in early 2024 due to her need for constant supervision and a known risk of falling. The complaint states that Griffin’s care plan required staff to check on her every two hours, but those checks allegedly did not occur during at least five falls between February and July 2024. The lawsuit further alleges that Griffin was left on the ground for hours at a time after several falls. In one instance cited in the complaint, video footage reportedly shows Griffin struggling on the floor overnight for approximately seven hours without staff assistance. Griffin later died in hospice care in July 2024, with the family’s attorney stating her death resulted from complications related to prolonged time on the ground. Attorney Jason Jordan, who represents Griffin’s family, filed the wrongful death lawsuit and submitted a letter requesting a criminal investigation by the Adams County District Attorney’s Office. A spokesperson for the district attorney confirmed the office has received the request and is reviewing it.
