Jennifer McDonald focuses her practice on family law issues involving all aspects of divorce, custody, and post-decree issues. Jennifer is also taking estate planning clients. She has been trained in Collaborative Divorce. She represents clients across the State of Colorado, including but not limited to Arapahoe County, Adams County, Denver County and Douglas County.

After working for another prominent Denver family law firm for many years, Ms. McDonald founded The Law Firm of Jennifer S. McDonald, LLC with the vision of running a family law firm that is child and family focused.

Ms. McDonald was trained in 2017 to work as a Child and Family Investigator ("CFI"). She is currently taking CFI cases, and enjoying helping the Court determine what is in the best interest of children in high-conflict custody cases. 

Ms. McDonald handles cases involving high conflict divorce, dissolution of marriage, child custody, allocation of parental responsibilities, child support, maintenance, parental relocation, division of marital assets, grandparent rights, paternity, high asset divorces, civil protection orders, drafting and review of prenuptial agreements, and more. Ms. McDonald handles her cases from beginning to end to ensure you know what you have signed up for.

Ms. McDonald has two undergraduate degrees in English and Broadcast Journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2011. During her time as a law student, Ms. McDonald served as a guardian ad litem, representing children in court cases involving dependency and neglect. She also traveled to India in 2011 to study domestic violence. Ms. McDonald is atrained mediator, and uses her negotiation skills to settle many of her cases. Ms. McDonald takes a child centered approach to divorce, and works to ensure that case outcomes are in the best interest of the children.

Ms. McDonald is passionate about helping families through the sensitive and difficult divorce process. She understands that every divorce is unique. Ms. McDonald works with her clients to craft arguments and settlements; and, she works hard to help clients find resolution and closure.

Jennifer McDonald is an active member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Arapahoe County Bar Association, the Colorado Women's Bar Association, and the Colorado Bar Association Family Law section and the Solo and Small Firm Section. She is licensed in the State of Colorado and the District Court of Colorado.

Ms. McDonald is a native of Colorado. In her free time Ms. McDonald enjoys spending time enjoying the Colorado mountains with her husband and two children.
