Malcolm B. Seawell is the founder and principal attorney of Seawell Law, a Centennial-based firm devoted exclusively to criminal defense and plaintiff personal injury litigation. Mr. Seawell received his Bachelor of Arts with honors in Criminal Justice and Economics from American University and graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law with highest honors in 1991, earning induction into the Order of St. Ives. His academic excellence was recognized with American Jurisprudence Awards in Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Appellate Advocacy, and Corporations.
He began his career as a Deputy District Attorney in Colorado’s 18th Judicial District, prosecuting cases ranging from traffic offenses to First Degree Murder. In private practice since 1996, he has served as Alternate Defense Counsel, on the federal Criminal Justice Act Panel, and continues to represent indigent clients in Broomfield Municipal Court.
In 2024, Mr. Seawell secured the dismissal of attempted murder charges in Denver County, persuading the District Attorney’s office to withdraw the case after presenting evidence of his client's innocence—an outcome that reflects both investigative diligence and legal acumen.
His civil practice includes standout results, such as a six-figure defamation settlement for a client falsely accused of theft, whose reputation and career opportunities were significantly impacted.
