The Colorado Bar Association admitted him to practice in 1977, and he has served as domestic law counsel for the National Education Association, the Colorado Education Association and the Denver Classroom Teachers Association since 1978.

Regarded as a leader in his field, Mr. King writes extensively and conducts lectures and seminars across his region on a variety of legal topics, and he maintains active involvement in his legal community. Along with being a member of the Arapahoe County and Colorado bar associations, he has served on the executive council the Colorado Bar Association's Family Law Section for several terms.
