Mr. Leonard has over 20 years of legal experience in state, federal and municipal court. Over his career, he has successfully defended numerous clients against many different types of criminal charges. In addition to criminal law, he provides advice and guidance on compliance matters. 

Recognized as an authority on criminal law, Mr. Leonard regularly speaks on criminal defense topics at continuing legal education seminars and is an author of legislation on DWI and internet crimes. He belongs to the Colorado Bar Association, The Missouri Bar and the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar. He is a Colorado Criminal Justice Act Panel Attorney and a former member of the Missouri State Public Defender Commission and the Missouri Sentencing Advisory Commission.

In 1995, Mr. Leonard graduated with honors from The University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, with a bachelor’s degree in history. He earned his law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1998. Earlier in his legal career, he developed his legal experience through a variety of roles, including serving as a prosecuting attorney and working for the Missouri State Public Defender and Missouri Legal Services.

After relocating to Colorado, Mr. Leonard founded his own criminal defense firm, drawing on his background to provide exceptional legal services to Colorado residents facing criminal charges. He takes on cases involving assault, child abuse, cybercrimes, domestic violence, drug charges, DUI, probation violation, sex crimes, and other misdemeanors and felonies.
