After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1979, Ms. McCord Beck attended the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor in 1982. She also completed an intensive 40-hour mediation course sponsored by CDR in Boulder in 2003.

Regarded as a leader in her field, Ms.  Beck has conducted many lectures and seminars across her region on a variety of legal topics, and she once served as president, vice president and treasurer of the 1st Judicial District Bar Association. She is also the former chair and secretary of the Juvenile Review Board, as well as a board of directors member of the Metropolitan Denver Interdisciplinary Committee on Child Custody.

Among her other professional affiliations, Ms. McCord Beck has served in a number of leadership roles with the Colorado Bar Association's Family Law Section Executive Council, and she was a member of the Guardian ad Litem Standards Committee, the Special Advocate Standards Committee, the Child Advocacy Center Task Force and the Colorado C.A.S.A. Task Force, among others.
