A former assistant county attorney in Jefferson County, Colorado, he also handles cases of medical malpractice, adoption, criminal law, juvenile law, dependency and neglect, civil litigation, and representation of attorneys in ethical matters.

As an active member of his community, Mr. Pickard is involved as a high school speech critic and a coach of the mock trial team, and speech and debate at Mullen High School, and works with the Boy Scouts of America and as a baseball coach for the Bear Creek Junior Sports Association. Throughout his career, he has tried more than 100 jury trials and loves to find a fair resolution to a complex problem.
He is involved in many professional organizations, including the Metro Volunteer Lawyers, the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Federal Bar Association, the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, the National Association of Counsel for Children, and the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. Former president of the 1st Judicial District Bar Association, Mr. Pickard also served as a President and board member for the Pinehurst Country Club and as vice president of the Colorado Bar Association.
