A former military lawyer, former prosecutor and former federal public defender, J. Patten Brown, III, now defends those in Avon, Connecticut, as founder of the Law Offices of Pat Brown. Mr. Brown is admitted to practice in Connecticut, Louisiana, Tennessee and New York, and has tried cases in Ohio, Kansas, New Mexico and Texas, in both federal and state courts. After graduating from the University of Mississippi with an undergraduate degree in 1988, he then moved on to law school at Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he earned a Juris Doctor in 1988.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Brown served in the United States Army, where he was a well-decorated JAG officer. During his career, he has represented clients in capital cases, and is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.
For several years, he served for the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee as a federal public defender, where he tried over 50 cases and represented a long list of clients in other states. Mr. Brown provides services to anyone who is charged with violating the Endangered Species Act and the Lacey Act, and takes cases for anyone going before an appellate proceeding or a criminal trial in the United States Military.
